Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Preview – 360group – Mobiles in St Ives

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is probably still a couple of months away, but that hasn’t stopped a number of rumours popping up about it.

Last year, Samsung confirmed that there would be a Galaxy Note 8, despite the huge recall of the Galaxy Note 7. Unfortunately for us, Samsung has remained silent on the exact details of the handset, so for now we have to rely on rumours.

Luckily, Korean tech blog IT Home has published a report that claims the Galaxy Note 8 will run on a brand new processor built by Qualcomm. The report claims that Qualcomm is going to shortly introduce a Snapdragon 836 chip, which is a marginally boosted version of the existing Snapdragon 835 chip – the one that features in the Galaxy S8 and the HTC U11.

The report also states that the new chip will run at a clock rate of 2.5GHz which is only slightly faster than the 2.45GHz clock speed of the Galaxy S8. The newly enhanced GPY is also tipped to include a GPU running at 740MHz.

It is important to remember that we can’t verify the information in this report, but it is also important to note that none of the claims that have been made are unrealistic. Last year Qualcomm launched two versions of the Snapdragon chip, with the latter being an improved version that was 10% faster than the one before it.

So there is no reason why Qualcomm wouldn’t do the same thing this year, but the company hasn’t confirmed the move, so like we said earlier, take the report with a pinch of salt.

Having said that, if the Galaxy Note 8 is the first phone to use the alleged Snapdragon 836, then that could be a real selling point for it, as at the moment it is hard to imagine how different the Galaxy Note 8 could be from the Galaxy S8.

Battery Issues – 360group – Mobiles in St Ives

It is important for the Galaxy Note 8 to offer extras this year, especially as the series of phones have now significantly increased in size. Also, Samsung has plenty of work to do to restore customer faith, after last year’s Galaxy Note 7 was recalled twice following battery fires issues.

The release date of the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be sometime in August or September, this is normally when Samsung unveil their new products.
